Common pediatric upper extremity injuries include fractures and soft tissue trauma. Less prevalent injuries include sport specific overuse injuries. Fractures in the pediatric population are best described using the Salter-Harris classification, which has management and prognostic implications. Most pediatric upper extremity injuries can be managed with an initial trial of immobilization and early range of motion, followed by surgical intervention if necessary.
