Nikolaos Kourkoumelis, PhD (Medical Physics)

Dr. Nikolaos Kourkoumelis is an assistant professor of Medical Physics at University of Ioannina in Greece. He is a physicist working on the biophysical characterization of biological tissues and biomaterials using spectroscopic, diffraction and imaging methods. He also tries to understand the molecular mechanisms of metal-dependent life processes. During his free time he develops academic software for diffraction analysis. He has authored numerous scientific publications, received awards from European Science Foundation and International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) and participated in research shortlisted for the Martin Black Award in Medical Physics.
