Dr. Chao Xie, M.D., MSBA, is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics, and Vice Chair of University of Rochester China Institute and is working at the Center for Musculoskeletal Research, Department of Orthopaedics at University of Rochester Medical Center.

Dr. Xie received his medical degree from Zunyi Medical University and completed his residency training in Diagnostic Radiology from Capital Medical University, and Interventional Radiology from Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University. Dr. Xie also completed his Postdoctoral Training in Urology and Orthopaedic, respectively from the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Dr. Xie is the Ph.D./Postdoctoral supervise, the member of Orthopedic Research Society and International Chinese Society for Bone Research. Dr. Xie is the reviewer of annual OREF and 27 SCI journals. Dr. Xie received 2007 ORS New Young Investigator Award, 2008-2009 DePuy Scholarship, 2012-2014 ORS/OREF awards, as PI or Co-PI, Dr. Xie has received research funds from NIH, NYSTEM, ORS/OREF, DePuy Johnson & Johnson, AO Trauma, NCSF in China, etc. and he has published about 50 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Xie’s main research areas include 1) Fracture repair and tissue engineering reconstruction; 2) The mesenchymal stem cell homing and differentiation in fracture healing; 3) Metastatic bone tumor angiogenic target screening, 4) Bone staphylococcus aureus infection.
